Appartenance Psychiatry

About me

I have been in medical practice for over 30 years. My expertise is treating depression and anxiety with multiple modalities. We will work together to integrate medical and psychotherapeutic treatments to enhance your mental health, vitality, and a sense of belonging.

Why Appartenance?

Appartenance translates from the French as "a sense of belonging," that profound sense of being rooted in one's own life. Connections to the inner life, the natural world, and humanity are essential elements in mental health.

Services

Together we focus on your internal world, and the outward expression of your authentic self. We explore maladaptive coping strategies that no longer serve you, and develop skills to move forward in new ways. Approach: Integrative care blending psychodynamic insight and mindfulness practices to support growth, clarity, and self-expression.

Individual Psychotherapy

Family therapy is a powerful modality to work through interpersonal challenges directly, among adult children, parents, and extended family. Over a course of 3-10 sessions, we address family dynamics in a safe, structured environment. Focus: Emotion coaching, nonviolent communication, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) to foster connection, clarify boundaries, and deepen mutual understanding.

Family Therapy for Adults

Comprehensive psychiatric and medical evaluations typically consist of three sessions, at the end of which we will discuss treatment recommendations and medical work-ups, if indicated. Note: Medication management is offered only in the context of ongoing psychotherapy—not as a stand-alone service.

Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management

I provide specialized evaluations to support your Primary Care Provider in managing your mental health care. After three sessions, you and your provider receive a written report with recommendations. On referral: by your PCP for diagnostic clarity or treatment guidance.
